New month of April is here so I wanted to take it back before we proceed into spring. In 2007 I had the pleasure of recording the mixtape titled "Take 1" with Grand Puba. I dug deep in the crates to bring out classic jams. Peep the intro from the Grand Man while Dowe is on the zigga zigga......
What a memorable night in Brooklyn. My fellow hometown Philly baw DJ Questlove invited Young Guru to spin a guest spot at his weekly party at Brooklyn Bowl appropriately named Bowl Train. Both Quest & Guru were diggin' in the crates all night pullin' out all the stops that kept the crowd in a frenzy. Notables in attendance were Swizz Beatz, Alicia Keys & Ali Shaheed Muhammad of Tribe.

Another gem from the vaults of Golden Era Hip Hop, one of the early performances of L.O.N.S. in 1990 at Kilmanjaro club in NYC for Elektra Records Hard to the Left campaign">
True school Hip Hop is alive & well thanks to Rich Medina & Akalepse weeekly event PROPS at NYC's Le Poisson Rouge (aka LPR) Guest DJ Kemit took it exactly where i needed to go with breaks, originals, golden era hip hop etc.....We were in for a special treat with Rene Neufville (Zhane) who took the mic & sang lush melodies over Kemits choice selections. Then when Rich took the set it went downnnnn. Grand Puba got on the mic & kicked Brand Nubian rhymes over every Nubian record that Rich threw on. Then Rene sang the hook to Hey Mr.DJ while Puba added his part "On & On & On & On"....... mere words cannot express, but the flix should help.
